Dream Meaning of Palm of Hand

To dream of the palm of your hand is to dream of your own openness to life—what you hold, what you give, what you keep. In the Turkish dream tradition, this small stretch of skin carries a wide range of meanings, from your daily bread to your character, and even your standing before God. The state of the palm, whether open or closed, clean or covered in hair, tells the story of your circumstances and inner nature.
Open and Closed Palms
If you see your palm open and relaxed, the dream points to a comfortable life and a generous heart. An open palm suggests that money and sustenance come to you easily, and that you are the kind of person who shares what you have. A closed or tightly clenched palm, on the other hand, signals financial strain and a guarded, sometimes miserly attitude. The dream is telling you to notice how you hold on to things, because tightness of hand often mirrors tightness of circumstance.
The Size of the Palm
A wide, broad palm in a dream is a very good sign. It means your income will grow, your possessions will multiply, and people will know you for your generosity as well as your wealth. A narrow or small palm suggests the opposite: a tighter income and fewer resources. If the palm appears unusually thin or delicate, the interpretation shifts toward personality—it indicates a timid soul, someone with a weak will and little courage.
Hair on the Palm or the Back of the Hand
Hair growing from the palm itself is not a lucky sight. It points to money leaving your hands, and to sorrow and debt that may soon find you. Some interpreters say it means you will lose property you currently own. Hair on the back of the hand is read differently: it can make you stronger in your affairs, or else warn that your money will flow away. If you own land or buildings, though, the same image promises a valuable gain—so context matters a great deal.
Raising the Palms to the Sky
To lift your open palms upward is a gesture of supplication, and in dreams it usually brings good news. If you work in a government office, it predicts a rise in rank; if you are a hunter, it means you will return with abundant game. More generally, it points to a profitable undertaking, one that will reward your efforts. The dream encourages you to look upward and expect your due.
A Beautiful or Dirty Palm
When your palm appears clean, attractive, and well-formed, the dream is considered highly favorable. It is often read as a sign that your prayers will be answered and that blessings will come to you and to those around you. It also suggests that you are steering clear of sin and refusing to take charity, preferring to earn your own way. A soiled palm, by contrast, is measured by its dirt—the more filth, the more it points to the six worldly matters of pleasure, wealth, children, leadership, heroism, and avoiding the forbidden. The interpreter judges the dream by how much cleanliness or uncleanness you see.
Rubbing the Palms Together
Rubbing your palms together in a dream has two very different readings. On one side, it is a sign of relief and joy, a moment when worry lifts and the heart expands. On the other, it warns that you may be busying yourself with something pointless, spending effort that will bring no reward. To strike the palm of one hand with the back of the other is more ominous: it is said to herald a calamity. Consider which feeling accompanied the dream to decide which meaning fits.
The Palm as a Mirror of Your World
In the older Turkish and Islamic dream books, the palm represents six things: drinking and pleasure, wealth, children, leadership, heroism, and keeping away from what is forbidden. It is also a symbol of your worldly life in general, and of your readiness to step away from daily work. Some say that if you see your palm in a dream while you are in a frightening situation, you will escape or avoid that situation altogether. The palm, then, is both a tiny map of your fortunes and a sign of your power to choose a cleaner path.
As with most symbols, the palm of the hand asks you to look at the details. Whether it is open or closed, large or small, hairy or smooth, the dream is telling you something about your relationship to your own life and livelihood. Pay attention to how you felt in the dream—that feeling is often the key to which meaning applies.
